Learning to take my own advice

One of the suggestions in my last post was to cook your meals ahead of time. Well I did just that this weekend. It makes it so much easier to put a meal together. I made chicken and rice, meatballs, bbq ribs, chili, baked apples and blueberry muffins. We ate a little and I froze the rest for later. This is such a time saver as it's just as easy to make one batch as it is to make three or four at the same time.

All for now.

Holiday Stress Overload

With the Holiday Season in full swing I thought this would be a good time to offer some stress reduction ideas. Remember, this is a time for family and friends to be together and it should be enjoyable. If it becomes overwhelming, then you need to take a good long look at your situation and start making necessary changes.

Learn to say NO. You do not have to accept every invitation or make an appearance at each and every event. Pick and choose.

Simplify your meals. Cook ahead so you only have to re-heat.

Ask for help. I repeat, ASK for HELP!

Till next time.

Fall frenzy

I can't believe how fast this month is going. It won't be long and it will be a new year.

This week's tip................

Take a breather and make your life slow down a little bit. Enjoy the simple things and don't let the "big" things get you down. Remember, write your list and get jobs done one piece at a time. With a little planning you will not only get through the holiday season, you just might be able to enjoy some of it. Oh, and don't forget to ask for help when time gets short.

Happy Thanksgiving.
Till next week

Weekly Tip

With the Holiday's just around the corner, our stress levels will be elevated and we may not even notice right away. Here is one way to reduce your exposure.

Avoid contact with negative people.

Till next week.

Applicable on so many levels

All Truth Goes Through Three Stages...

1. It is ridiculed

2. It is violently opposed

3. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident

To me the moral of this story is to believe in what you feel is right and sooner or later all the other's will come around.

Weekly Tip

Whether we are ready or not, morning always rolls around. If you find yourself frantic trying to get ready for your day each morning then get into the habit of preparing the night before. Choose what you will wear and have it ready before you go to bed. Plan your lunch and have everything waiting by the door so you are not searching for keys or shoes at the last minute. A little preparedness will eliminate a lot of stress.

How do you see it?

I am sure many of you have read this before but it is worth repeating.

Attitude

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. 'Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today.' So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. 'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today.' So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. 'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail. ' So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head. 'YAY!' she exclaimed. 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'

Attitude is everything. Be kinder than necessary, everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply
Love generously
Care deeply
Speak kindly
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Weekly Tip

Life can really be stressful. Especially when we try to juggle way to much each day. In an effort to remind myself to "stop and smell the roses", I am going to post a tip each week on how to reduce stress in your daily life and also how to relax a little. Here goes and this one is a must for me.

Do not rely on your memory. Write things down.

This is a necessity, not a sign of weakness.

Till next time.

Do you want to be healthier but are not sure where to start?

Everyone has made that New Years Resolution to excercise more, quit smoking, lose weight or to eat better. We tend to make big promises and almost set ourselves up to fail. There are so many little things that you can do for your health that added together can have a major impact on your life and health. Here are just a few.

For starters, drink more water but be sure that it's fresh pure water. Keeping your body hydrated is important all the time not just in the summer or when you are exerting yourself. Replace one cup of coffee with a glass of water today.

Walk a little each day. If you normally take the elevator, take the stairs. Park your car a little further from the door each day. All those extra steps add up.

Perform at least one random act of kindness each day. It will make you feel better than the person that receives it.

Just for today, write down everything you eat. You may be surprised at all the calories you aren't even aware you are consuming.

This is just a small start on the path toward better health.
