Food recalls

Is there some reason we seem to have to have a major food recall every two years? Not to mention the smaller recalls that are much more frequent. Think about it.

Spinach 2006

Beef 2008

Eggs 2010

Maybe this is so the alphabets can justify their jobs. Or, is it to make you want them to irradiate your food?

This is why we raise our own chickens. No salmonella worries here.

Don't let this give eggs a bad name again. Remember this...

The Incredible Edible Egg...

are you singing the commercial now?

On a serious note, eggs are a great source of protein and they should be included in everyone diet. Go to your local farmers market and pick some up!

Great site for vaccine information

This site is a great resource for vaccine information no matter which side of the fence you are sitting on.

Most of you know how I feel about vaccinations in general so I won't go there today but if you are looking for more than the typical mainstream media vaccine hype, this is the place.

Back to school

Are you ready for summer to be over and the kids to be back in school?

It can be a very stressful time for everyone involved.

Here are a few tips to make the transition a little easier.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Put the laundry away in "outfits". This makes it much easier for the younger kids to get themselves dressed.
Pick out tomorrow's outfit tonight.
Have the backpacks loaded and ready to go the night before and in a specific place.
Set aside a space that is just for school communication. There will always be things that need to be reviewed and signed and if there are routinely in the same place it is less likely that they will be misplaced. It can be a folder, basket or a magnet on the refrig.
Try to leave one night per week completely open so that there can be some down time for everyone.
Try these few things and see how it goes.
Good luck and happy school year!
